We're excited to host Lyell Castenguay's project BIG INK this summer
Artists are invited to submit a proposal to create a woodcut, at least 24” x 36” in dimension, via an open call for entry. It is free to apply and proposals are processed online. If accepted, artists are given two months to carve their image into a piece of plywood. Castonguay remains in contact with the artists to provide guidance and technical support when needed. At the end of the two months, Castonguay schedules a printing session at a print studio where all the artists meet and help one another print their woodcuts onto paper. Typically between 30 to 36 hand pulled prints are produced during two days of printing.
Deadline for applications: March 23rd, 2015
Printing Event at Pickwick: June 5-6th, 2015
Application is free & if selected, the participant will pay a materials fee.
Many Thanks to the many people who donated chairs, the team of pickwickians who helped put on this event, the many people who stopped by to rock and of course Space Gallery and the Friends of Congress Square for allowing us to put on this event!
Our Friend Erin Sweeney came into town a few weekends ago and we had a great time folding and printing instant books. We got a bit of flack for naming the workshop Instant Letterpress, but if we called it "painstaking letterpress," would anyone take it? besides, it wasn't pain staking. IT WAS FUN, galldernit.
We're excited to have a space at the Book Arts Bazaar at USM on April 6th. We'll be showing and selling our member's prints, books, cards, zines, and more. Stop by and see us! Our good friends David Wolfe, Crystal Cawley, and Erin Sweeney will also be there.
Lisa and Pilar made four of these 3x8 collagraphs last year for our Sweet and Salacious Valentine's sale. We didn't get our act together to have another sale this year, but we've got plans for more of these in the future.
